Anthropic resets everyone's usage limits and stretches the Fable 5 window to July 12
Claude's 5-hour and weekly limits got a clean-slate reset for all paid tiers this week, and included Fable 5 access was extended from July 7 to July 12 after subscriber backlash.
Anthropic had a make-good week. After a rough stretch of outages, it reset Claude’s 5-hour and weekly usage limits for every paid tier, Pro through seat-based Enterprise, a clean slate mid-cycle. My own limits reset Thursday; if you hit a wall earlier in the week, check your meter before you wait one out.
The bigger move: included access to Claude Fable 5, the Mythos-class model that was supposed to leave paid plans on July 7, now runs through July 12 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific. The extension was announced hours before the original cutoff, after subscribers pushed back on losing the model mid-billing-cycle. Inside the window, Fable 5 use is capped at half your weekly limit. After it, the model moves to prepaid credits at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output, with Anthropic saying it wants Fable back in subscriptions once capacity allows.
Put this next to OpenAI’s week and the shape of the moment is clear: one lab is cutting prices, the other is rationing its best model by the hour and by the calendar. Capacity is the constraint everywhere. The models on your own disk are the only ones that never ration you, and that stops being a slogan the first time your limit resets mid-thought.
