Prusa INDX Founder's Edition ships: 8-tool toolchanger conversion kit for CORE One starts at $749

One thousand Bondtech Founder's Edition INDX kits are now shipping for the Prusa CORE One. The standard Prusa Edition follows at end of July, with the full first batch out by end of August.

Prusa has confirmed that 1,000 Bondtech Founder’s Edition INDX units are shipping, giving the first wave of CORE One owners access to a tool changer conversion that supports up to eight independent nozzles. The standard Prusa Edition is scheduled to leave the factory by end of July, with the entire first batch out by end of August.

The core claim of the INDX is near-zero purge waste: each tool keeps its own dedicated filament path, so there’s no material to flush between swaps. Prusa puts the waste figure at 0.013 grams per tool change, and the system skips the wipe tower entirely. Nozzles use induction heating to reach temperature fast, and Prusa pegs the toolchange time at around 12 seconds for PLA (measured from last extrusion on one material to first extrusion on the next, which is the honest way to count it). The kit runs $749 for the 4-tool version and $999 for the 8-tool version, tariffs included.

The install is not a weekend click-through. Tom’s Hardware, who got an early unit, said stripping the CORE One and building it back up took the better part of a weekend, and Prusa itself has asked for feedback from Founders to improve the retail experience before the broader launch. Prusa has also explicitly asked reviewers not to treat the Founder’s Edition as the final product, noting the retail version will have refinements. So: real hardware, shipping now, but consider first-wave reports as beta feedback rather than verdicts. The review queue opens properly once Prusa Edition units are in more hands.
